Avon Calling...

Whitney English Calling Cards

Well, maybe not Avon.  But we would be willing to do almost anything (even sell Avon door-to-door) to use our calling cards.  Fortunately for us, though, it's easy to find ways to use them.  They can be used as:

  • business cards, adding color and personality to the traditionally plain card (a great gift for college grads heading out to the job market)
  • social networking cards, for moments when life prevents long conversations or even the jotting down of contact information
  • gift tags, but much prettier and more personal than the stickers you can buy at superstores
  • brief "thank you" notes, especially for those with neat and tidy handwriting
  • unique inserts for luggage tags, making your bags that much easier to identify
  • allergen cards, to clearly communicate dietary needs with restaurant staff, friends or even family
  • parent cards, to leave contact information with sitters, daycare teachers and schools or exchange numbers with other parents for playdates
  • P.S. cards, holding that extra information that just didn't fit on the main card or invitation
The list goes on and on, really.  Their small size makes them easy to tote and store, but they're big enough to carry your messages.  From sassy to professional, classic to contemporary, we have patterns to suit every personality and need.  We also offer envelopes for them, so your message and information can be hidden from unintended readers.  Calling cards have been making a comeback, a trend recently noted by both Real Simple (May 2009 issue, page 64) and Time Magazine (July 2008).  Speaking of Real Simple, our Tahiti Pink Calling Card made it into their calling card spread, thanks to one of our vendors.

How can you resist exchanging information on such colorful cards?  Or brightening someone's day with a cheery, brief note?  Or sending a gift with a tag as unique and special as the recipient?  We certainly can't... we love them too much! Check out our calling cards today!

We Noted: Chapter Two

chapter two pattern

The next time you're in the Miami area, swing by Chapter Two. The Women's Alliance has created the organization to be a nonprofit, sustainable community element by collecting ready-to-wear, high-end, second hand clothing for the Chapter Two resale shop. Their cause? They use the funds generated from sales to help provide skills training and professional clothing to low-income women seeking employment. They've taken the consignment store concept to a new level, by providing the customer a unique brand experience, complete with chic signage, collateral, store layout and merchandising techniques.

chapter two vintage wallpaper

Chapter Two called in design firm mono to create an identity system that aligned with the nonprofit's tagline: "Everything deserves a second chance". Enforcing the concept of sustainability, mono used vintage wallpaper scraps for their business cards. My favorite elements? A variety of inspirational patterns, great typography with use of a classic small caps face, and the vintage-inspired black boxes hanging off the page.
