Cinco de Mayo!

We've been very busy around here preparing for the National Stationery Show, and we can hardly believe that late next week we will be heading off to New York. There are still little details to wrap up, and bags to pack, and so many new products to share at the show... it's all a little overwhelming, sometimes!

We decided to take a break today and celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a fabulous Mexican lunch! Whether or not you are of Mexican descent, and whether or not you know what Cinco de Mayo is all about, we hope you will take some time to celebrate today: celebrate who you are, the people around you, and life in general.  Take a break from your hectic schedule and enjoy the moment!  Because we couldn't share the actual lunch with you, we thought we would share a few pictures from our day. However, the food was so good, and we were so busy, that we neglected to take any pictures of the feast or festivities! Shame on us! Our good intentions were forgotten in our focus on enjoying and living life. Instead, please share with us how you celebrated Cinco de Mayo, or how you stopped to smell the roses and celebrate life!

If you want to celebrate a little more, try this recipe out after work:

Cinco de Mayo Margaritas
6 ounces frozen limeade concentrate
5 ounces 100 percent agave tequila
1 ounce good-quality orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier
3 cups ice

1. Combine limeade, tequila and orange liqueur in a blender and top with ice.
2. Blend on high until ice is broken up.
3. Serve immediately, and enjoy!

This recipe--because of the frozen limeade--is particularly yummy!

Country Living's Women Entrepreneurs 2009

Country Living Women Entrepreneurs 2009 Event
Last spring, Whitney attended the Country Living's Women Entrepreneurs 2008 Event and had a blast! This event provides a unique opportunity for women entrepreneurs to mingle, network, sit in on relevant and insightful seminars, and pitch their product or service to Country Living. Because we truly believe that this event is worth attending, we wanted to share some pictures from last year... and hopefully encourage you to attend on Saturday, May 30!  (For more details, or to sign up, please visit their website.)

In the top picture, Whitney is am standing with Anna Griffin, who is well-known in stationery circles; over the years, her hard work and quality products have inspired us and pushed us toward higher standards.  With Whitney in the next picture is Anne Marie Craig, a woman who has carried on her grandmother's work by hand-crafting quality soaps on her family's century-old farm.

With Whitney in the next picture is Juanita Carmack, whose company, Taco Chic Salsa, makes several varieties of authentic and fresh Mexican salsa.  The bottom picture shows Polly Wilson of Barn Dandys, a company that makes whimsical, child-sized furniture and household objects.

As you can see, this event brings together a wonderful blend of women from a wide variety of fields... and we all have a great time!  Whitney will be in Chicago again this year--if you see her, please say hello!

and we're LIVE!

Not very many things in life make me giddy. Among them: the crystal we got as a wedding present, finally finishing the remodel on our master bath, a timeless cocktail dress. Oh, and THIS WEBSITE. I am positively extatic over it! We've spent countless hours over the past year tweaking and fine-tuning, making sure that we'll be able to add to the site as the line grows. And, finally, we're live! Hooray!
